Domestic Installer Scheme Qualification (DISQ)

NICEIC Certification’s Domestic Installer Scheme Qualification (DISQ) has been developed for individuals who need to demonstrate competence to work on electrical installations following the introduction of Part P of the Building Regulations. Part P requires all electrical work in dwellings to be undertaken by a competent person.

What is the Domestic Installer Scheme Qualification?

The DISQ is designed to the ISO17024 standard and delivers a certificate of competence for individuals who wish to apply for registration to notify domestic electrical installations through the NICEIC (or other Competent Persons Schemes).

Aimed specifically at the domestic electrical market it is a combined training and assessment package that will meet the needs of experienced installers working in the following categories:

  • Qualified Supervisor for full-scope electrical domestic installation contractors
  • Responsible Supervisor (responsible for several installers) for defined-competence electrical work in support of another trade
  • Responsible Person (responsible for own work) for defined-competence electrical work in support of another trade

Why do I need to demonstrate my competence?

To carry out electrical work in dwellings in England and Wales contractors must demonstrate competence in order to either:

  • gain registration with a body approved by the Department of Communities and Local Government (CLG), such as the NICEIC Domestic Installer Scheme, to enable self-certification of work that must be notified to Building Control
  • notify all your work in line with the requirements of Approved Document P of the Building Regulations to the Building Control office of the relevant local council where the work is carried out.

What are the benefits of using NICEIC Certification?

NICEIC Certification is one of the leading personnel certification bodies in the UK and provides:

  • Convenience of assessment – through an extensive network of approved training and assessment centres located throughout the UK
