As a Crown dependency, the legislative framework in use within the States of Jersey differs in some respects from that which is in use in the rest of mainland UK.
In particular, Jersey legislation requires that individuals that carry out testing and inspection of electrical installations are members of a “Competent Persons Scheme” so that confidence can be had that the results of any inspection & testing regime can be relied upon.
NICEIC Certification runs a “Competent Persons scheme” aimed specifically at individuals that carry out such activities within the States of Jersey, hence permitting such activities to be carried out in compliance with legislation.
The “Competent Persons Scheme” looks at the qualifications held by the individual as well as his/her ability to carry out inspection & testing of electrical installations, verifying their compliance with BS 7671.
Successful individuals are awarded with a “Certificate of Competence” valid for a period of 3 years, at the end of which , a further examination of the individuals continued competence is carried out, which, if successful, prompts a re-issued certificate.
